Do Something Now

Saturday, January 7, 2012

It's that time of year again. Resolution time. What's yours? Me, well I'm not gonna try and pick one to stick to this year. It always flops anyway. I can bet a lot of you out there are making vows to eat healthier, exercise more, and maybe even lose weight. That, I can relate to. If you know me well, then you know I am all for healthy eating. In fact, I'm pretty passionate about it. One day I'll blog all about it. For now, I encourage you all to take care of your body and live a healthier lifestyle! Yay for healthy eating in 2012!

On a very different note, Mitch and I have returned from a fantastic, inspiring week at Passion2012. I couldn't leave this post without mentioning it…the world needs to know. We(45,000 of us) raised over $3million to help end slavery (sex trafficking, forced labor). How great is our God! To clue you in on the details- there are more than 27 million slaves today. That's more than any other in history. I was unaware…and I think the majority of Americans are too.
I have been inspired to raise awareness, to take action. I eagerly want to spread the word. So rather than me telling you how awesome the music was or how cool Hillsong's graphics were, or how much I love listening to Louie Giglio preach, I want to to tell you that there are 27 million people out there who are trapped in a vicious cycle with no hope. Real, breathing people. Depressing right? Yes, but we can do something about it! How? Follow the link below, give and tell others.

"Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the chords
of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor
wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your
healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness will
go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard."
-Isaiah 58:6-8 (read whole chapter!)
